Glossary
Every shipping and logistics term used across the BillionBiz docs, in one place.
AWB (Air Waybill) The unique tracking number assigned to a parcel. Despite the name, it's used for surface shipments too — it's simply the industry-standard term for a shipment tracking ID. Every shipment gets exactly one AWB.
Auto-Fulfillment A BillionBiz feature that automatically books a shipment and schedules a pickup for every confirmed order, with no action needed from the merchant. Enabled in the Shiprocket plugin settings.
Base Cost The default shipping price charged to customers in a given shipping zone when no free-shipping or discount rule applies.
COD (Cash on Delivery) A payment method where the customer pays in cash to the courier agent on delivery, rather than paying online at checkout.
COD Remittance The process by which Shiprocket periodically transfers collected COD cash to the merchant's bank account, minus the COD handling fee.
Activity Log A unified timeline page (Dashboard → Activity Log) showing every event in your store — orders, shipments, returns, payments, wallet movements, authentication, and configuration changes. Each row is timestamped, categorised, and clickable through to the underlying record.
Drift (wallet) The difference between your BillionBiz ledger balance and Shiprocket's reported balance. A non-zero drift indicates a charge or refund that needs investigation — calculated and surfaced automatically every 30 minutes by the reconciliation cron.
Reconciliation cron A background job that runs every 30 minutes, compares your wallet ledger balance against Shiprocket's reported balance, and writes a reconciliation transaction for any drift found. Keeps your transaction history in sync without manual checks.
Wallet History The Shiprocket plugin tab (Extensions → Plugins → Shiprocket → Wallet History) showing every wallet transaction — debits, credits, top-ups, reconciliation adjustments — with running balance, filters, drift indicator, and CSV export.
Courier The physical delivery company that transports your parcel — e.g. Blue Dart, Amazon Logistics, DTDC, Xpressbees. Shiprocket and Delhivery are aggregators that give you access to multiple couriers under one account.
Manifest A printed document listing all parcels handed over in a single courier pickup. The courier agent signs it to acknowledge receipt. Required by most couriers for pickups of multiple packages.
NDR (Non-Delivery Report) A notification raised when a courier agent attempts delivery but can't complete it. The reason (customer unavailable, wrong address, refused delivery, etc.) is included — merchants can then re-attempt delivery or initiate an RTO.
Per-kg Rate An additional shipping charge applied for every kilogram above a base weight threshold in a shipping zone, so heavier orders pay a proportionally higher shipping cost.
Pickup The event when a courier agent comes to your warehouse and collects your labelled parcels. Pickups must be scheduled in advance via Pickup Management.
Prepaid Order An order where the customer paid online at checkout (card, UPI, net banking, or wallet). Money is captured immediately in Razorpay — no waiting for delivery to receive payment.
Reverse Pickup A pickup initiated for a customer return — the courier goes to the customer's delivery address and collects the item, then brings it back to your warehouse.
Rate Shopping Comparing shipping rates across multiple couriers (Blue Dart, DTDC, Amazon Logistics, etc.) at the time of booking, to find the cheapest or fastest option for a specific origin-destination pair and weight.
RTO (Return to Origin) When a parcel can't be delivered after all attempts, it's returned to the merchant's warehouse by the courier — initiated by the merchant from the NDR screen, or automatically after the courier exhausts all delivery attempts.
Serviceability Whether a courier can actually deliver to a given pincode. Checked automatically at checkout before the customer pays — if a pincode isn't serviceable, the customer is notified before placing the order.
Shipping Zone A group of pincodes that share the same base shipping cost. Zones are defined by pincode range (e.g. all Mumbai pincodes, all metros, all remote areas), each with its own base cost.
UTR (Unique Transaction Reference) A unique identifier assigned to each bank transfer by the National Payments Corporation of India. Every COD remittance has a UTR you can use to find the corresponding transaction in your bank statement.
Volumetric Weight A calculated weight derived from a parcel's physical dimensions: (Length × Width × Height) ÷ 5000. Couriers charge based on whichever is greater — actual weight or volumetric weight — which is why accurate product dimensions matter.
Wallet (Shiprocket) A prepaid credit balance in your Shiprocket account. Every shipment label costs a certain amount deducted from this wallet. Top up at shiprocket.in — BillionBiz checks your balance before every booking and warns you if it's too low.
